Nature can be unforgiving. These fighting Black-headed Ibis babies are a prime example for that. Photographed somewhere in Diyawanna Oya, Kotte, they fought for food from the parent until one was thrown out of the nest.

The victor went on to enjoy the meal from the parent while the loser managed to hang in without falling to the water below by clinging on to a branch few feet below the nest. I'm not sure whether it managed to climb its way back but I fear he did not stand a chance.
