Brown-headed Gull
(බර-හිස ගලුවියා)
Chroicocephalus brunnicephalus
I believe these are Brown-headed Gull's (not Common Black-headed Gull's) based on the yellow iris, white eye ring and white mirrors on black wing-tips.
First they were seen in Mannar. (Images 1 to 4) I came across another casually floating in the Jaffna lagoon near the Sangupiddi causeway on a different trip. (Images 5 and 6)

Common Black-headed Gull

Chroicocephalus ridibundus
Photographed in Bundala National Park, this solitary gull was among other terns. Based on size, the less prominent blackness on the beak, I'm fairly certain this is a Black-headed and not a Brown-headed.
